The son of Don Francisco Martín Pedrilla and Doña Ana de Lancaster Laboreiro was the consul in Caceres for many years, perhaps due to his Portuguese ancestry. The collection comes from the artistic heritage of the Provincial Council and private donations. It ranges from documents about distinguished figures (from music, arts, research or politics), plastic art, paintings and sculptures (Rafael Lucenqui, Nicanor Álvarez Gata, Conrado Sánchez Varona, Juan Caldera, Eulogio Blasco, etc.), to an educational journey through the prehistory and history of Extremadura. The Guayasamín Foundation is in the garden area, with the famous Ecuadorean painter’s art and displays of pre-Columbian and Colonial Art.
